Well hello! Glad you've dropped by. Feel free to have a good read, but you should know that
I'm no longer writing on this blog. The new blog is over here: Pursuit of Redemption.

Genius

Wow. The McCain campaign continues to make brilliant strategy moves. Maybe it’s because he’s a military man, but he’s been known to enjoy constantly out-flanking the media on multiple occasions. Just look at his Palin announcement! Want to really upset the media? Make them absolutely positive one thing is coming, and then pull the ole switcheroo.

Well now the campaign has the media by the ear and is dragging it to timeout. And the message the campaign is sending is loud and clear.

Hey… HEY! If you want to talk to our veep, you’ll play nice. Got it? GOT IT?

Until now, Palin hasn’t appeared for an interview. But this coming Thursday and Friday, she’ll sit down for an extensive two-day interview with ABC’s Charlie Gibson. Charlie’s been nice so far. So Charlie doesn’t get sent to his room with only bread and water like the rest of the bad media.

Obama as Community Organizer

What does that mean? Aside from Palin’s jab in her speech, it apparently means not really getting anything done. Have a look at the Wall Street Journal article. Amazing to me that Obama and the Democrats use this as an example of his experience (that and the Presidential campaign itself, strangely enough). From the article:

It is both funny and scary that one of America’s major political parties would offer this record of sheer futility as its nominee’s chief qualification to be president of the United States. Even more striking, though, is how alien the world in which Obama operated was by comparison with the world in which normal Americans live.

Reader, when your toilet breaks, do you wait around for some Ivy League hotshot to show up and organize a meeting so that you can use your collective strength to wring concessions from the powers that be?

Or do you call a plumber?

So while the Democrats are crying that Palin is fair game (I’ll agree that her record as a politician certainly is), the media seems to have been woefully inept in their hard-hitting coverage of Obama’s record. You’d think he’d keep mum about his futile attempts at helping the poor, hoping they wouldn’t find out just how much he didn’t accomplish in Chicago. But maybe I’m underestimating his confidence in the media’s support.

Russell Brand at the MTV Video Awards

Yes, this guy looks like he’s got it all together. One note to the Brits: we don’t take kindly to you coming across the pond and criticizing our country. Fix your own.

And he might want to think twice about using the word ‘retard’ in such a clearly derogatory manner mere days after the MSM experienced a backlash for its treatment of Palin’s son Trig, who has Down syndrome. Enjoy your progressive STD’s, sex addict.

Finally

So this might be a bit of a fluff piece, but frankly, if you’re going to do a story on a political candidate’s family, fluff is the way to go. Get hard hitting when you’re talking about their record.
