Well hello! Glad you've dropped by. Feel free to have a good read, but you should know that I'm no longer writing on this blog. The new blog is over here: Pursuit of Redemption.
I enjoy conversations on other blogs, and in one I’ve been following lately, a foreign Socialist interjected with his thoughts. Mine follow.
Not to break up this discussion or anything; but SO WHAT if obama has a preference for marxism? SERIOUSLY? This absurd clinging of the United States to pure capitalism is precisely what has caused its downfall. Hellooo? Economical crisis anyone? Caused, in fact, by pure, uncontrolled, capitalism?
Most european nations and governments apply certain socialist principles to their democratic governments to promote their citizens rights and give them a better life, all the while preventing big companies from taking over and those who are too greedy from having ALL the money (even rich, powerful countries like the UK and Germany). True, it isn’t PURE capitalism, but that’s why it’s good. It seems that at some point you americans decided that letting people fight for their lives and money in an unfair race where some started almost at the end is better than giving everyone the chance to live dignified lives. I thought this was about PEOPLE. about making the world a BETTER place for EVERYONE. But maybe I was wrong.
I just find it astounding how so many of you let the outdated anticommunist propaganda of the past affect you, to the degree that, while the world has moved on and decided to work with the best of both systems, you still doggedly cling on to one that has proven itself insufficient. SERIOUSLY.
socialism and communism aren’t evil, they just trust humans too much. STALIN was evil. BIG difference.
Really? Digg can’t find more than one story on Redistribution of Wealth? (And an unrelated story, to boot.) Am I misunderestimating its search algorithm or something? I figured it’d be blowing up right about now!
It sounds completely impossible, but I thought I’d throw it out there to see if anyone has suggestions on ways to get my cardio out of an upper body workout. I’ve noticed that my legs appear to be in much better shape than my upper body, and I suspect it’s because most of my workouts are dedicated to cardio. And the best way I achieve that cardio workout? Running. So naturally that works the leg muscles at the same time. And yes, my upper body gets the fat burning benefit from the overall cardiovascular workout, but I can’t help but think I might be looking at a more toned upper body if I could shift some of that cardio time to working out the upper body while at the same time keeping my heart rate up in the 60-70% range.
A buddy of mine snapped this shot shortly after he heard an explosion outside his office here in Nashville. Interesting, because cars and trucks don’t usually explode on impact…
…I think it’s a governmental conspiracy.
UPDATE: Apparently the tow truck didn’t even hit the pole with a driver inside it. The truck was parallel parked across the street, and when it got so ridiculously hot outside, the brakes just melted, sending the truck across the intersection into the pole.
Sometimes, I just can’t even believe what people think is “a good idea.” I hope they had to shave this moron’s head to get all the duct tape off. Looks like he might even lose one-and-a-half eyebrows.
Only members of the forum on gearslutz.com will care:
I got tired of using the somewhat lackluster search function within the forum some time ago, and I’ve been getting much better results using Google to search that site specifically. But it would be nice to have a Firefox/IE7 search plugin to allow me to search straight from the browser, non? Good thing I made one.
I could’ve told you that. It’s been that way all summer. Most of the time the thermometer in my car reads three digits, so I’ve had to start getting up early if I want to have a good outdoor run. (Honestly, I feel like such a hamster on a treadmill.) And even at 6am, it’s already topping 80 degrees.
But the best part about the article? Seventy-six year old Joe McClellan from just outside Nashville:
“I stay inside more, I drink more water. My wife’s bothered by it because she’s a woman, I guess,” McClellan said.
