First of all, I want to say thank you for your honesty, In reading some of the post, it seems like a lot of the people are thinking that the whole tea party movement is for profit. It is not, This is only the Tea Party Nation, NOT the whole tea party movement.
As for Judson Phillips, he should go join the rubes in the white house, he will fit right in as a cheat.
Last, To "tea partier", You use most of your post saying we all have choices, then you blast Kevin for screwing you... You were the one who emptied your savings, took vacation, even went as far as to buy an overpriced ticket when you were an INVITED speaker... DING DING DING has your stupid bell been disconnected? If I were invited to be a speaker at a convention, then told I had to spend my own dime to get there AND buy a full price ticket, I would do a little research into the organization. You screwed yourself.
Thanks again for the info on tea party nation, I will spread it to anyone that will listen and maybe we can run this ass out of business.

Oh..and the very fact that people hold up Palin as some sort of grassroots rogue is a joke in itself. Shes a fundie with a pretty face, that ran a low pop state so long as it had a crap ton of oil money coming in. The second she has to face any sort of budget concern..IE 99% of a governors job..she ran for the hills...this is all beyond the fact that even with a team looking after her, she still managed to appear on numerous occasions to be woefully ignorant of current, and historical events, policy..ect..ect..

The tea party movement will not grow past the Palin bots at this rate..and Palin has a shelf life...because of exactly what happened here..Its not based on principals..like the RPR is.

Really the vast majority of the tea party has been a sham from the start. The people who "really" wanted to check size of government regardless of political party expanding it, has been involved with the Campaign for Liberty AKA The Ron Paul Revolution for quite sometime. After foolishly, and against my reservations attended a couple Tea Party rallies it became apparent to me, that the Tea Partiers were not potential allies with the CfL, but mostly comprised of amazingly ignorant bitter Republicans..and yes..racists..overtly or not.

The fact that the party has been high-jacked by GOP, and moneyed interests is just dawning on some of you now is a bit of just deserts for those of us, whom saw it from the get go..When YES..the entirety of FOX (sorry its just fact)..plugged the hell out the tea party for a solid week+ with many of their whack job neo-con hosts being key note speakers.

As per Palin..put back into to the movement my arse..If she cared about the movement she would have forgone the fee, or at least greatly reduced it. The entire movement is a sham, and is so because the ignorant masses of members allowed it to be..and from my experience, tend to be naturally ignorant in the first place ALA the "Birthers", and calling Obama a Socialist, or believing hes some secret Muslim sent here to run for and win the presidential election in order to allow them to carry out attacks.

Oh well..at least you came to your senses and plugged the CfL..which even that, I'm starting to question some of their choices..ALA Lew Rockwell.

The saddest part of all of this is that there was and is a vehicle for all of this well before the Tea Parties even came around, The Campaign for Liberty. The first use of "limited government, free markets, and individual liberty" and "The Constitution" came from the original tea party event held during Ron Paul's presidential bid, fact, I was there. Ron Paul was warning about the coming economic collapse and fall of the dollar when all the Repubs could do was argue with the Dems on war and torture. He also warned about all the power Bush was grabbing because it could it could end up in the wrong hands, i.e. Barrack Obama.
The New Tea Party groups are okay and a good start, but if you want to be part of the original idea and the original tea party movement join the Campaign for Liberty.

Kevin, While I suspect this is not something you heard from Mr. Phillips, I want to "thank you" for your commitment to this Tea Party Movement.

I found TPN, soemwhat early in the process, and now understand a note I received a number of months ago regarding the TNTeaParty, name changed, etc.

I too have realized that THIS organization and many who are "regular posters" on the site, seek nothing more than to "help" the Republican Party. My interest is that the Tea Party Movement, be the beginning of a strong "independent-third" party, but I suspect that will be difficult fighting the two party monolpoly (duopoly) that has been created by the federal election commission.

Backmann and Blackburn have decided not to attend the Convention, I hope that Sarah Palin remains true to her "core principles" and will soon follow suit by withdrawing from this circus.

@Lee: I always laugh when I see someone say that "FoxNews" is some how brain-washing and misleading the "poor little, uneducated and dumb conservatives". Do you stop to think that we ARE informed and that we disagree with you? You could easily say the same thing about the other news reporters that are OBVIOUSLY biased the other direction. Why don't you talk about the "Poor, dumb, illogical" liberals who are being misled by Pelosi and Reid, Obama and Valerie Jennerett?

I am truly sorry that you were so taken advantage of Kevin. Unfortunately, you must take some of the blame. You acted on your own free will. I empathize as I am feeling the same way right now.

I am a speaker at the convention. I was asked to speak based on the work that my local tea party has done and the excellence that our group has demonstrated. I am not being paid and purchased a convention ticket, a plane ticket and my hotel room. It was my choice. Not everyone can afford to do that. I chose to spend my savings on this event.

I thought that was what our movement stood for. People being able to make their own choices. No where does it promise that it will be equal for all. If it were, there would be subsidies given to those who couldn't afford it. Some groups held fundraisers to send their representatives. They worked for the opportunity to go.

As far as the "for profit" aspect goes, isn't that we we represent? Capitalism? The organizers are putting all the work into it - why shouldn't they make a profit? We make the decision to purchase a ticket or not. The free market decides. But now it seems that "others" want to decide that for us.

Why the outcry AFTER the tickets were purchased, airline tickets purchased, vacation time taken etc. You are screwing all of us as Judson did to you. Does it make you feel better?
