Here’s someone that’s put together a quick-paced video explaining how we got to this point in the housing crisis.

Prediction on First Debate
My prediction for tonight’s first presidential debate: Obama comes off looking childish and ignorant. Why? Because he’s taken 3 days to study up on foreign policy — you know, so he doesn’t make any more powerful declarations like the one concerning the US not having enough Arabic translators in Afghanistan. Because of the recent economic turmoil, the topics of the debate will shift dramatically to issues of economics rather than foreign policy, and Obama doesn’t have his trusty teleprompter tonight.
On a somewhat related issue, apparently the meeting at the White House yesterday saw McCain showing quiet support for John Boehner and the House Republicans’ plan to have Wall Street bail itself out rather than force Main Street to foot the bill. But here’s what’s ridiculous: The Dems agree with Bush on this bailout, and they’ve got a majority to pass this bill. Hear me: there is no need to have Republican support for this bailout, they’ve got the votes to pass it. So why do the Dems act as if it’s necessary? Because they know it’s a bad idea that’s being rushed through to make Congress look effective, and in a year or so when history proves it, the Dems don’t want to have gone down in flames all by themselves. They’re setting it up so they can rewrite history on this bailout just like they rewrote history on the failed policies that caused this problem in the first place.
Why the national MSM has no street cred
“How to Blow a Scoop.” Hmm, indeed. What kind of response would you expect from the mainstream media if the son of a Republican state representative hacked into Barack Obama’s yahoo email account? Outrage, right? Well sure, that’s a big scoop. So why isn’t the same level of devotion applied to the story about the son of a Democrat state representative who hacked into Sarah Palin’s yahoo email account? Further:
A Republican with a personal email account? Scandal! A Democrat who hacks a Republican’s personal email account? Ho-hum.
The vast majority of the media is inarguably in the tank for Obama, and it’s impossible to pretend there is any kind of objectivity going on. Shoot, the media’s current posture makes Bill Clinton look fair-minded and unbiased by comparison! I much prefer the Huffington Post over most of the liberal rags out there. At least with the Huffington Post, you know exactly what kind of ideology is being shoved down your throat.
Florida Congressman to Quit Pretending He's Not Racist
What is it about Sarah Palin that causes so many on the left to absolutely lose all sense of reality? Like this:
“If Sarah Palin isn’t enough of a reason for you to get over whatever your problem is with Barack Obama, then you damn well had better pay attention,” said Hastings. “Anybody toting guns and stripping moose don’t care too much about what they do with Jews and blacks. So, you just think this through.”
Yeah, Jews and Blacks! I hear the McCain-Palin camp have a bill just waiting in the queue that’ll introduce mandatory lynchings! So, you just think this through!
Clinton, McCain?
Seriously, when is Bill Clinton just going to start stumping for McCain?
“We know he didn’t do it because he’s afraid because Sen. McCain wanted more debates,” Clinton said, adding that he was “encouraged” by the joint statement from McCain and Sen. Barack Obama.
And in regards to President Bush’s address to the nation last night?
“I thought it was the clearest statement of why we’re in the fix we’re in, at least what the nature of it is and why some national action is needed,” Clinton said.
I honestly don’t know what I’m supposed to do with this newfound respect for Bill Clinton. He’s certainly not being partisan anymore, but while he’s clearly not running for office again, it kind of sounds like he’s not really even in support of his own party for this election. This will turn out bad for Obama.
“I think that she and her husband and their kids come across gutsy, spirited and real,” he said in an interview to be broadcast Wednesday night. “I have significant disagreements with her about any number of social and economic issues but I find her an appealing person and I think that it’s best to say that Senator McCain looks like he knew what he was doing. He picked somebody who gave him a lot of energy, a lot of support.”
Does he really support Obama? If it’s a yes, it’s the most unenthusiastic support I’ve ever seen. What do you think?
Sorry, there are no polls available at the moment. The End of an Era
Does this mean their incessant commercials with a booming voice that heralds big volume discounts have come to an end as well? I hope so.
PETA to Ben & Jerry's: Use human milk
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals sent a letter to Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield, cofounders of Ben & Jerry’s Homemade Inc., urging them to replace cow’s milk they use in their ice cream products with human breast milk, according to a statement recently released by a PETA spokeswoman.
What? This story is definitely 6 months and 9 days early.
Victory?!
Democrats have decided to allow a quarter-century ban on drilling for oil off the Atlantic and Pacific coasts to expire next week, conceding defeat in a months-long battle with the White House and Republicans set off by $4 a gallon gasoline prices this summer.
I think so. Finally! Some reasonable thinking. More.
Remember this news… it'll be important
Seriously, read this story and mark it down on your calendar.
IAEA head Mohamed ElBaradei said Iran’s stonewalling of his agency was a “serious concern.”
I have the sneaking suspicion that in the coming years, half the country will over-react to this report and the other half will pretend the report never existed.
Uh…
What am I supposed to do with this weird feeling of respect for Bill Clinton?
I mean, this is what I’ve been saying for a while now. The political dialogue is much more fruitful when we don’t think we need to find some demon in the other party’s representatives. There’s enough lack of character among both parties, and that’s certainly an issue that should be rooted out for the betterment of the country, but it doesn’t typically apply to candidates for president. That’s usually the congressmen and senators. Ted Stevens comes to mind. Charlie Rangle as well.
There are enough differences between the two parties and the candidates those parties put forward to make your decisions based on their policy and how they view the role of government. Obama’s not the antichrist. And if he were, you wouldn’t be able to do anything about it anyway, so let it go.
