More on the scheme to artificially raise gas prices, this time specifically involving the lies about ANWR. (Remember, Al Gore wanted the government to do whatever it takes to artificially raise gas prices to $5 a gallon. Looks like the Dems are in lockstep!)

Yes, but the problem lies in the utter dishonesty. The argument you put forth is, in fact, what I've suspected the other side believes all along, but that's not what they say. Instead they say things about how drilling won't work at all. I think the truth of the matter is that it will work, and they know it. And just like you said, they don't want it to even happen because the price of gas would plummet and we wouldn't be scared and beholden, searching for alternative fuels. Why else would Pelosi refuse to even allow a vote to be taken?

I would love America to be much more fuel diverse. But I'm tired of the government trying to play God with the market. Every time they introduce some new initiative on alternative fuel, it completely backfires (read: ethanol).

So my question is this: If regulating drilling to the point of non-existence so that gas prices stay high and continue to force development of alternative fuels is so high and nobel an idea, why don't the Dems just come right out and say that THAT is their agenda?

I think one of the main arguments here is that if we only put our efforts towards making oil cheaper, America will never change. We're all about the dollar and would become complacent the second our wallets allow us to.

I can see both sides honestly. I see the need for a more short term solution like off shore drilling but I think a large part of our resources needs to be put towards alternative fuels.
