Is it just me, or is Lithwick trying to demonize one who might say, “I’m for living… yes, living is good. Much better than dying, I think.” Lithwick takes constitutional fundamentals to new heights of rigidity and indifference toward individuals. Hmm, and all the while I thought that was the Republicans responsibility.
Note: Why the frick did this all become so political anyway? Why must the Republicans be for Shiavo living, and the Democrats be for her husband’s right to kill her?
Don’t give me any sass about there not being a problem. The entire US Senate seems to think there is.
I’m all for this.
And it seems to be gaining momentum. But if we’re gonna get this passed, it will have to be a grassroots effort. Women never got the right to vote because politicians wanted it, they had to fight for it. If we want this tax reform, which would make paying federal taxes oodles easier, we’ll have to not back down until we get it.
(Note: And looking at the progression of the Social Security reform effort, I hope a large bipartisan following gets behind this thing before the politicians act like it’s their creation. At that point, we can kiss hopes for “the other side” supporting it goodbye–whoever the other side happens to be.)
I’ve finally amassed the necessary funds to get the mac mini, and I’m determined to not become yet another PC-to-Mac elitists.
You know, I’ve noticed that those who until only very recently owned a PC are the only ones that get all high and mighty about their new Mac. Those that grew up using Macs, though they undoubtedly feel superior, tend to be more reserved about their elitism.
Hmm… yes, I will not be one of the mac elites… because I am a better person.

I’m in the middle of writing a paper for political science on the topic of US commitments abroad. I thought it would be interesting–and would certainly stretch my intellect–to play Devil’s advocate on this one. (Maybe I should try that on a 3-page paper next time.)
I’m down to researching the federal budget right now. This can’t be too hard, I thought. Bush has plenty of detractors. All I have to do is look to the NY Times to find some hard-hitting reporting on how messed up the Bush budget is. And to my surprise, I’ve come to find that Bush’s opponents sure are fired up about writing Op/Ed pieces on how he’s a big stupie-head and ready to step on the poor while they’re down, yet no one seems to favor sourcing their statistics they throw around. There’s no solid articles against the Bush proposal with any substance that I can actually use. Criminy.
I was walking into the YMCA today for a quick run, and going up the stairs I hear a kid–couldn’t have been more than 7–talking to himself:
