I discovered that Johnny Depp will be reprising his role as Cap’n Jack Sparrow in a sequel to Pirates of the Caribbean alongside the lovely Keira Knightley. Whew-ee! Gotta say, I’m excited. That was a thoroughly good movie the first time around.

When radio was becoming widespread, experts predicted that the newspaper would die out. When TV was introduced, the same was said about radio. Now that we’ve got all these blogs out there–blogs such as Instapundit, Lileks’ Bleat, and Kausfiles–what’s happening to newpapers?

At a briefing by U.S. officials who coordinate government contract work here, there were warnings of a probable increase in tensions between Shiites and Sunnis during the holiday period, which ends today. A security contractor with access to U.S. military reports said Shiite mobs had attacked suspected suicide bombers three times in the last few days. On Thursday, a group of Shiites participating in a march beat to death a passerby who appeared suspicious to them.
Shiites “are taking the law into their own hands,” the contractor said.
Holy crap. The Shiites aren’t kidding around.
